jQuery validate, my problem with meta

For some reason, I code a new project, use the old code from the previous project, within it, I have validation code using jQuery as below:

This code does not run in new project.

After googling around, I found out that I miss the library "jquery.metadata.js".

What the heck ?

Why does official jquery doc page does not mention about this library.

Ruby On Rails trouble shoot technique

Today, I discover an interesting technique to trouble shoot when rails console through some error but it might come from the underneath system of ruby.

Then, we can execute that specific statement (from your controller, or from your view) on Rails console.

My explanation is as follow:

I have the same problem with him, but on the view, I cannot know this issue come from which line of code. Because the code I use is correct (it works as the same on previous project).

So that I run command:

We decided to use html 5 video player instead of flash to view video for our next project.

But our current ffmpeg does not support. The issues on my ubuntu station was:
1> converted file to mp4 is not playable on google-chrome, and firefox
2> converted file to ogv, ogg is playable but there is no sound.

So the following instruction helped me solve the thing:

Rails 3 and omniauth

But when I follow the link, there's 2 problems having
1> omniauth has been splited to multiple gem , instead of 1 gem before. i.e if you work with twitter you need to add omniauth-twitter, or facebook as omniauth-facebook ... in your gem file
But the document is quite rare to specify about this
2> omniauth twitter which is the one I'm trying to work with first is having problem, it failed to startup the Web-application after I put this within the Gem

Solution was, I added omniauth-facebook into the Gemfile, remove omniauth-twitter, run bundle install, then application startup ok
Then I re-add omniauth-twitter into gemfile, run bundle install, and this time the application startup OK

So what was the problem?

It was, omniauth-twitter does not automatically install omniauth-oauth2 (1.0.0) with it, but omniauth-facebook does.

In order to combine omniauth with devise, within your User.rb, you should use "user.save(:validate => false)" in order to create new user without email and password.

I install ubuntu 10.04 to windows 7 system. on another partition.Problem: after install ubuntu (I chose to install loader to the same partition with windows 7), grub loader see the windows 7, but cannot boot into it, every time I chose windows 7, it returns to grub loader.I fixed this issue in mainly 2 stage:1> Stage 1, insert windows 7 installation disk into dvd rom, boot it, choose repair, choose command line, enter command: bootrect /fixboot2> After that, grub loader is not able to load, every time system startup, it auto enter windows 7. In order to support for HTML5, I need to convert video into ogv, and ffmpeg does not perform properly for this kind of task. It provides result video file without sound on HTML 5 (but have sound when you open with other video player of ubuntu).

And here come a very strange bug:

Invalid gemspec in [/usr/local/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/specifications/active_reload-0.2.0.gemspec]: invalid date format in specification

Then I read a person's comment also from this page, and I edit this file with command:
sudo vi /usr/local/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/specifications/active_reload-0.2.0.gemspec

Rails form_for issue with method at hidden

Today, I had an issue with form_for.

I used form_for to update an object @tool (of Model Learningtool).

I automatically redirect to action update, no matter I had specified clearly, :controller => "another controller", :action => "another action".

Then, I remember that form_for create a hidden field, with name="_method", value ="put".

Hence, I force form_for to use :method => "post".

After that, on the firebug, I check again, the hidden field gone away.

And the expected action is achieved.

Below is the example of what I've done:
